Creation is always happening part II

Warchild
An observation.

About 7 years ago I came across this image in a magazine and (I admit, in some state of shock) found myself starring in the mirror . (btw: this is an image that Warchild used for their campaign back then, but that is not what I would like to share with you). I tore the page out of the magazine and showed it to some one with the words: "this is a reflection of me". This person starred at the image for at least five minutes and said:" so what does a soldier do in peacetime"?

Puzzled with the question, it wasn't until quite some time later that I realized that there is no such thing as peacetime for a soldier. A soldier is always at war, as he is always in a state of being ready for war.

From the perspective of the soldier there can never be peace.

This started me thinking upon the subject of this shadow soldier. Ego seems to be at war all the time. Always up in arms, always taking charge, always making judgements, always being in the state of being ready for :)

I realize that at that point in my life I was completely conditioned to survival. The soldier always being there throughout my life (in smaller and larger forms, like ebb-tide and flood-tide) was now captured in this image. Overshadowing the image of the young playful child: a courageous and fearless young playful child..... a freedom fighter.

It was obvious to me how this shadow soldier had grown out of proportion in that particular part of my life. What I found more interesting though, was to explore how I could make this freedom fighter grow. How I could strengthen its position. It dawned to me that possibly the only way to achieve this was by a dramatic shift in my focus. By neglecting the shadow soldier, not feeding it any longer, weakening its power. Focussing on this freedom fighter or the self.

From the perspective of the self there can only be freedom.

If from the perspective of the soldier there can never be peace and if from the perspective of the self there can only be freedom, than a soldier can never be a freedom fighter.

Creation never takes a break :)

I choose freedom.
